Emma found her way into Thornbury Bowls Club in 2016. She wanted to meet people in the community and was drawn in by the social aspect of the game. She loves that lawn bowls is an activity for all ages to enjoy together and the way it unites people of all backgrounds. You might see her cycling down High Street, chatting with members at the club and when she’s bowling, you’ll hear her laugh from Northcote.
It’s obvious where Georgia gets the nick-name ‘sporty spice’. As the youngest member of the club her passion for sport runs deep, competing in all manner of school sports, she is also a die-hard footy fan. Georgia loves team sports and the way people encourage each other to strive to be their best. She was roped into bowling by her dad and has starred in pennant competition ever since. She likes being at the club because she says people are always laughing, the event days are really fun and the live bands are always cool.
The clubs longest serving member with 47 years under her pennant belt, Jean and lawn bowling go hand in hand making her infamous in the greater bowling community. Joining the club in 1971 you can bet she has a cache of great memories. It’s the social aspect of bowling and meeting people that keeps Jean in the game. She means business when she takes to the green and bowls almost daily throughout summer either training or competing in pennant. Jean’s status at Thornbury Bowls Club is somewhat of a legend.
Since being introduced to the club in 2009, Carol took an instant love to lawn bowls and has never looked back. A keen chess player having represented Australia at Chinese Chess, lawn bowls is the first team game she has joined and her enthusiasm is hard to match. In her spare time you will find Carol enjoying practice matches with friends and getting involved with club activities and social events.
